Introduction - Credit Information Bureau
Karja Suchana Kendra Limited is one of the oldest Credit Information Bureau in the SAARC region and was established in May 1989 with the sole objective of restraining the growth of the Non Performing Assets of the Banking and Financial sector of the country that was increasing alarmingly during the period. Afterward, it got enrolled as the Company in 2004 under the Company Act 2053 and began its operation as the free and self-ruling substance from March 2005. It works through arrangements made in NRB Act 2058, Article 88. It is an open restricted organization with banks and money related establishments holding lion's share of value (90%) while the rest (10%) is held by Nepal Rastra Bank. KSKL right now has 62 promoter investors including 22 business Banks, 7 Development Banks, 32 Finance Companies and Nepal Rastra Bank.


According to the Nepal Rastra Bank Regulation, all banks and money related organizations that are enrolled in Nepal Rastra Bank and occupied with credit loaning of Rs. 1 million or more office must be enrolled in Kendra as its part. Just the enrolled individuals can profit the credit reports and other credit data benefit gave by Kendra.

There are altogether 135 banks and financial institutions that are registered as members of Kendra.Which are as follows:
  • Commercial Banks = 28
  • Banks (National) = 14
  • Development Banks (Regional) = 29
  • Finance Companies = 32
  • Others (Micro Finance Institution, Co-operatives) = 7
