Introduction - Nepal Rastra Bank
NRB, the central bank of Nepal, established in 1956 under the Nepal Rastra Bank Act 1955 is the monetary, regulatory and supervisory authority of banks and financial institutions. The new Nepal Rastra Bank Act 2002 which replaces the erstwhile Act has ensured operational autonomy and independence to the Bank.

As per the Nepal Rastra Bank Regulation, all banks and financial institutions that are registered in Nepal Rastra Bank and engaged in credit lending of Rs. 1 million and above facility must be registered in Kendra as its member. The Nepal Rastra Bank was established in April 26, 1956 and is the central bank of Nepal. It supervises the banks and financial institutions in Nepal and guides monetary policy.
